Most famous for its world class Sauvignon Blancs, Marlborough’s stony river plains and long summers have inspired local winemakers to turn their skills in crafting some fine examples of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and other varieties.

With Vintage Wine Tours you will experience the diversity of the region as you take in the stunning views of the Wairau Plains and its endless rows of vines. At the cellar doors of Marlborough you may even learn some of the secrets of terroir that have been applied in the creation of small production wines that offer a depth of complexity your taste-buds will remember forever.
The journey to Marlborough from Nelson takes around 75-80 minutes. Along the way Rod will fill you in on the region’s wine history and the geography that makes it ideal grape country, as well as give you the background of the wineries and their winemakers, some of whom had successful labels in Europe before coming to Marlborough make their mark here in the New World.
Marlborough Vineyard Tours
A Connoisseur’s Marlborough – wine tour with lunch and 5 wineries from $230. Ask about a private tasting at Mahi, incl. pre-release barrel tasting in the cave. Extra charge applies. May to September Special – $210 p.p. for booking with 4 or 5 passengers.
Picton to Nelson – including visits to Marlborough wineries. SEE BELOW for details. I recommend you book the Bluebridge from Wellington. It arrives in Picton at 11.30am. The Interislander arrives 12.30pm.
Note: Lunch is main only, a glass of wine and tea or coffee. Rock Ferry, Wairau River and Giesen are my regular lunch venues.

Picton to Nelson via Marlborough Wineries
Visit 3 – 4 Marlborough wineries following your midday ferry arrival, before the drive to your Nelson accommodation via Havelock and Pelorus Bridge. Minimum 2 / Maximum 4 passengers FROM $210 p.p. If you arrive later and stay the night in Picton, I can allow you a longer time in Marlborough with an earlier pickup. These options can save you 1 or more days car rental hire, if you are considering hiring one in Picton. Lunch not incl. in price. Nelson to Picton – As above, for ferries departing Picton 2.00pm and 2.15pm.
